Having Good Insurance Still Leaves Patients in Crisis

Every day, hardworking people with good jobs, obtain quality health insurance, build
lives for their families, but find themselves overwhelmed by medical debt after a serious diagnosis.

Insurance is supposed to protect us, but far too often, it falls short when it matters most. Out-of-pocket maximums, specialty drug costs, uncovered treatments, and relentless copays leave patients facing impossible choices: follow their doctor’s advice or protect their family's financial future.

The Hidden Financial Burden of Serious Illness

At the Samaritan Fund Foundation, we see the hidden crisis unfolding behind the scenes. Patients battling cancer, kidney disease, and chronic illnesses are not only fighting for their health — they are fighting their insurance companies, billing departments, and financial stress. These battles are silent, lonely, and devastating.

Our foundation steps in at this critical moment. We provide direct financial support to cover medical expenses that insurance does not — giving individuals the peace of mind to heal without the crushing weight of financial ruin.

What Must Change

While we do all we can for each of our participants, charitable action alone will not
solve this crisis. As healthcare costs continue to rise faster than wages, the system must evolve. True patient support goes beyond access to insurance. It requires removing the financial barriers to treatment, help with recovery, and encouraging hope.

At the Samaritan Fund Foundation, we are proud to stand in this gap. We invite partners, donors, and community members to join us in expanding our mission to give people and families battling disease the Peace of Mind to Heal.

Healing should never come at the cost of hope. We can help each other. Let’s empower
hope together!
